Grace Filled Days

June 23, 2008

At the start of last week I looked at all that had to be done, and was slightly overwhelmed. But God doesn’t need to give us grace for the “what-if’s” or for our imagination, and I didn’t always appropriate His grace as I should have; but one thing was certain–God’s grace was sufficient. And that’s all it needed to be.

It seemed that many wonderful events were occurring within the same week. There were things I wanted to accomplish, but didn’t; yet I think, by God’s grace, we were able to do everything God had clearly laid out for us. Here are a few of the highlights of the week…

It was hard to say farewell to Daniel’s parents, but we rejoice that they are able to return to their ministry in Korea. We were so blessed not only to have them here this year as our parents, but also as our godly counselors and dear friends. We made it the airport bright and early at 5:15 to say farewell to Daniel’s parents last Thursday (they’ve safely arrived and are doing well!). It was also Christa’s birthday, and we all (except Joshua) gathered at Daniel’s sister for a family breakfast afterwards.

Later that day, my parents arrived from West Virginia. They headed down to Atlanta for the weekend, but returned again this evening. Here’s a picture of my mom impersonating Hana Kate. Or Hana Kate impersonating Grandma? Hmmm….

The next day, my sister Kelly and nephew Matt were able to stop by for a brief visit. Matt had just finished up a week at Criminal Justice camp. Of course, Hana Kate got a new dress. (Thanks Kelly!):P (In this picture, though, Hana Kate is wearing a dress that my mom made for me when I was a little girl.)

And on Saturday, I had the privilege of hosting a shower for my good friend, Kristen. Their firstborn son is due early July. A group of us have been friends since our early college days, and it has been refreshing to see God lead us to godly husbands and add to our families. Three of us plus Kristen were able to be there.

The lovely Mommy-to-be with Grandma-to-be:

Did you notice that the cake has no serving utensils with it? After the shower, Daniel asked me, “why didn’t anyone eat the cake?” “Because I forgot to put a knife and server with it!” I sheepishly replied. Oops! (Or maybe it was because it looked more like an angel than a onesie!) Anyone want some cake? 🙂

Hana Kate was quite groggy from getting up so early and all the busyness! She likes to spend time with Daddy after he gets home from work…but this particular evening, she was ready to go to bed early! We knew she must be tired–because she hardly ever sits still when she’s with Daddy!

Today, a group of friends gathered to wish our friend Erika M a Happy Birthday. I just have to include this picture, because it cracks me up–I love all the matching bibs, though I’m thinking someone else must have taken a better picture..
