What do you get when you combine a Friday night family gathering, Bible Club, visitors, more visitors, my husband being gone most of Saturday, church, a sick mommy (better now), and a sick baby? A plethora of piles!
Since Biblical Womanhood’s Making Your Home a Haven for today was focused on picking up piles, it was just the motivation I needed to pick up those piles!
Here’s the bedroom piles before (ugh!!):
I have recently become disgusted with how much “stuff” and clutter we accumulate so quickly, so I’ve been going through and decluttering our home. I want our lives to become more simple. I’d truly love to get down to 5 main outfits each. Anyway… The pile of clothes was fairly easy to get rid of–I put it in a plastic bag and it will be consigned very soon. Although pictures are great, they add clutter. I prefer a barer dresser–and moved some pictures to the mantle. The cord? Well, we only have ONE outlet in our entire bedroom–not much could be done there. 🙂
Now, to pile # 2: Mount Laundry (who hasn’t encountered that before?)…
I folded the laundry, hung up clothes, organized the plastic containers (they had served as a bedside table while I was recovering), and replaced it with a mini stand from another room. The result?
(We were given the daybed on the side while my sister was living with us and no longer need it; if anyone who knows us needs one, please let us know!)
Well, two piles are definitely not enough to count as a plethora! But believe you me, there were a plethora of piles; but a plethora of pictures would take up way too much space!!! 🙂 Other piles picked up? The dirty laundry–washed; all corners of the bedroom–all tidied and put away! Birth supplies–organized in a plastic container. And all the mental clutter that comes with a cluttery house!
I am so thankful that the Lord is allowing my energy to return! I have so many things I want to get done. I am learning what a stewardship my time is as a young mother.
Tomorrow’s goal–finish up the thank you notes for all the meals and gifts after Hana Kate’s birth…and maybe conquer the paper pile beside my desk!
